The long retreat has come to its conclusion just in time to experience the final days of Advent and celebrate Christmas. “Long lay the world in sin and error pining, ’till He appeared and our soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.” The line from the famous Christmas hymn sums up both the Advent season and the dynamic of the certain parts of the Spiritual Exercises.

Along with rejoicing at the glorious birth of our Savior, we are also moved by the Spiritual Exercises to serve the Lord. This puts us in the right frame of mind to get back to work by parsing through the graces of the retreat and discerning what comes next.

The retreat has been known to cause a bit of cabin fever, so some of the tertians have made plans to spend the very end of December in places like nearby Gallway and Bellfast and lending a hand at the Manresa Retreat Center as well as saying holiday Masses around Dublin.

In thanksgiving for everyone who makes this experience possible and in gratitude for your prayers, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
