November 5: Feast of all Jesuit Saints and Blessed

November 5: Feast of all Jesuit Saints and Blessed

Today is the feast of all Jesuit Saints and Blessed. Today is a day when the global Society of Jesus steps back and remembers the countless Jesuits who have given of themselves wholeheartedly, not for their own glory but for God’s. Whether the names of the Saints and Blessed are known to many or only a few, whether official or not, today is a day when we give thanks to God for the lives of countless men who have humbly sought God in all things.

Lectio Divina with Seamus O’Connell

The best thing about the European tertianship program is the variety of speakers we get on the different topics that are essential to the whole process of formation. Today, November 4, 2015, we had Fr. Seamus O’Connel to talk about Lectio Devina.

Seamus O’Connell  is a priest of the Diocese of Kerry, ordained in 1982. Undergraduate studies in Maynooth (BSc and BD); graduate studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (SSL) and in Fribourg (DTheol).

His talk was very relevant as we are preparing and disposing our selves for the long retreat this coming November 20, 2015. He emphasized reading the Scripture as a starting point in moving towards the process of reading about our lives by allow God to illuminate our very being.

In reading the Word of God…the Word of God happens in our lives.

May our loved ones who are one with Jesus Christ in a death like his be also one with him in his resurrection in God’s presence forever.
