Liturgy and Society of Jesus

Liturgy and Society of Jesus

On Friday (October 25),  our host was Vlasto Dufka SJ. Being both musician and liturgist, Vlasto shared with us some of his insights and experiences related to the liturgy. Through his experience of being in the team that prepared the liturgy during the GC 35, Vlasto made us reflect on our own (positive and negative) experiences in liturgy, just to make us understand what a Jesuit approach to liturgy should be about. He underlined that even stronger with the presentation of Ignatius’ understanding of liturgy. We ended up the day by going through some examples of how and where music can be be an integral part of the liturgy. It’s needless to say that Vlasto’s organ accompaniments of our singing during the Eucharist on Friday and Saturday perfectly summed up all that risked to remain simply a theory.

Tertians in Glendalough

Glendalough Octoreber 2013From 17th – 19th October the Tertianship spent some time at Glendalough one of the earliest centres of Irish Christianity. Apart from listening to Fr. Michael Rodgers share some of the history of Christianity in Ireland we also had the opportunity to walk around the beautiful lakes and mountains,  and to soak up some of the ancient, mystical and spiritual atmosphere. It was a great couple of days for rest and reflection.
