As the new year got underway, the tertians continued to revel in the graces of the long retreat, chief of which is a desire to set the world on fire with Christ’s burning love. Today we see the tertians traveling to various works throughout Europe and the Middle East, to work with people, rich and poor alike, of various religions and needs. The experiments were carefully discerned and chosen according to what could best round out our Jesuit training.
Of course, we did a lot more than just live with anticipation of the experiments for the month since the last post. We continued with classes in the dynamics of the Spiritual Exercises, the Jesuit Constitutions, the General Congregations and the our way of proceeding. We also continued the tradition of having tertians present lectures on topics of interest as well. The photo below is an excellent example.
Not all of life is study, either. We had the chance to visit the Jesuit secondary school, Clongowes Wood College, where we celebrated the Sunday Mass and toured the school. In the photo below, you see an expert in biblical languages explain a text in an authentic and rare polyglot bible kept at the college.
Not long before, out of gratitude for our own lives in the Sociey of Jesus, we celebrated Tertian Director Fr. Jan Van de Poll’s 41st anniversary as a priest.
